Nine Months

Way back before Christmas Jodie set the weekly challenge over at the boxx to: 1) Create a LO using a magazine cutting...this could be an ad, a picture, a pattern, or cut out words for the title etc etc 2) And the title must be a movie title This was the same week that Sam had Mackenzie, so I was busy busy and didn't get a chance to upload but definitely had fun creating.
The buttons in the bottom right-hand corner are cut out from an ad in an older issue of Frankie...pretty lucky with that find :) and the title comes from a Hugh Grant movie. All the journalling is in the glimmermisted journalling card behind the photo of Sam- which was taken by her friend Lyn, along with lots of other gorgeous gorgeous photos that will be popping up in my scrapping.
Happy Monday

Hottest 100

The triple j hottest 100 is the quintessential music countdown. This year I actually got off my butt and voted...rather than listening to the countdown on Australia Day going "Man, I really should've voted!"
I would love to be very hip and cool and profess to listen solely to triple j, but alas I am not. I am totally commercial, I just can't stand the crap triple j plays in between the good songs :P Plus, with all the driving I do in the middle of the night the only station safe to listen to is Mix 102.3 or TripleM with their old, dodgy classics I can sing VERY loudly and stay awake for the entire trip home :)
So without further adieu my votes for Hottest 100 2009 go to...
*Eskimo Joe - Foreign Land
*The Gossip - Heavy Cross
*Hilltop Hoods - Chase That Feeling
*Jet - She's A Genius
*John Butler Trio - One Way Road
*La Roux - Bulletproof
*Lily Allen - Not Fair
*Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man
*Muse - Uprising
*Powderfinger - All Of The Dreamers
I think the current odds are for this song to come in at number one:
ARRRRGH!!! I just spent 15 minutes trying to get the youtube video to work, but is not behaving :( Check out the link below if you want to see the vid...
Alright off to bed now- Night!

Hummingbird Bakery

I was very lucky this Christmas and received a copy of The Hummingbird Bakery cookbook from my sister Sam. Hummingbird Bakery is a very famous bakery in London with cakes and goodies styled similar to American/New York type bakeries- and man are they YUMMY!! I have a barbecue to go to tomorrow night after work, so had the perfect excuse to bake something...both need some icing, but wanted to share a photo now- I've tasted both and they are very nice!!! First batch are Red Velvet, always a cake that's intrigued me- purely the fact that they are red! They are quiet yummy, very light and soft- I'm assuming that's because of the addition of bicarb soda and vinegar. I'm planning on topping these with cream cheese icing (or frosting as the book calls it!) and tempted to make it a pretty pink too :) Ahh the fun of baking...
The second batch are Black-bottomed Cupcakes. They are a base of chocolately dense cake and cheesecake topping. I was convinced they weren't going to work out when the chocolate mix refused to bind, but I added more water than the recipe stated and its all seemed to work out. They are an interesting flavour, but very yummy- I'm planning on topping these with a dark chocolate ganche...or if I'm lazy I might just use the rest of the Betty Crocker frosting in the fridge leftover from Charlotte's fairy morning tea... that stuff is incredibly tasty :)
Hope your having a lovely Friday- I've been lucky enough to have the last three days off and its been incredibly relaxing...I've got big plans tonight which include a bottle of New Zealand SavBlanc, my favourite pasta for tea, a new movie and some seriously messy scrapping...FUN STUFF!!

Her Fearful Symmetry and an Honourable Mention

Today I finished reading Audrey Niffenegger's latest book Her Fearful Symmetry. I had a few 'emotional dramas' while reading and at one stage was pretty convinced I didn't like the book at all... But after a bit of thinking and finishing the book I've changed my mind- I did like the book, it definitely was thought provoking and looked at concepts that I have contemplated and thought about before...life, death, ghosts, complex twin relationships (I shared a house with twin sisters for a couple of years-but thats a differet story!!).... I think Niffenegger must be an amazing person, quiet obviously an artist first- her descriptions are quiet magical and create such a vivid picture in the mind. I really enjoy her writing- it is lovely to read. Whilst searching for a copy of the book cover I came across this review which states in a far more eloquent manner what I was trying to say above :) -
"Lovers of Niffenegger’s past work should rejoice. This outing may not be as blindly romantic as “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” but it is mature, complex and convincing — a dreamy yet visceral tale of loves both familial and erotic, a search for Self in the midst of obsession with an Other. “Her Fearful Symmetry” is as atmospheric and beguiling as a walk through Highgate itself."
I was so very excited yesterday to find out the new Scrapbooking Memories Masters! A big congratulations to the girls on the list- I can't wait to get my hands on the mag next week to check it all out...and of course see my own work in print!!! I still can't believe I received an HM- and to share with my big sister too is just incredible! Tatum's entry is amazing- and her mystery project rocks!!!! So so proud of her!! Unfortunately I wont be able to share any of my work, in my rush to get my entry in on time, I took rather dodgy pics and because my entry has gone missing (Thanks alot Australia Post) I can't retake them...oh well cest la vie I suppose! xx Loz

Scrapping with T

Sometime late last year...perhaps October? early November?? Any who...I took a few days off work and went to visit Tatum, Woody and the kids in Roxby. I was lucky enough to sit in on a class taught by Tatum...shes a clever chickee!! :)

Love the bright, happy colours and the doodlebug flocked cardstock is too die for!! Feels amazing under the fingers :)

Back soon with some more layouts
