I can't quite put a date on it, but the first time I went to the Big Day Out was a fair while ago- I know that I was at uni and at that stage I'd been wanting to go for at least 5 years. I've been lucky enough to see some very cool bands (Muse 2010 were amazing!) , survive some really hot days (49 degrees anyone) and dance my little heart out.
Today I am getting to see one of my favourite bands. I was in early high school when I asked my Dad to buy the Red Hot Chili Peppers 'Californication' for me (we lived in the country and Dad used to buy cd's through a catalogue), being the cool guy he is Dad wandered over to his cd draw and pulled it out, along with One Hot Minute and Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik, awesome taste in music my Dad.
The few times RHCP have toured Australia I haven't been able to go to their concert, so as soon as the BDO lineup was released I was going, no hesitation.
I'm feeling excited!!

I've been to the Big Day Out and also the Falls Festival in Lorne before, but that was years ago! But just this week, I picked up tickets to see Counting Crows and I can't wait! They are one of my all time favourite bands since about the mid 90's (now I feel old :-P)x
